Hey,your icon-Eau de Joy-is one of my all time favorite year-round fragrances! It's an updated and improved (IMO) 1950s version of the original 1920s Joy, and it's *much* better than 2000's EnJoy (yet another fruity floral...how original :-( ).
Ah yes, this was when A&F specialized in well-made clothes for the outdoorsy set as opposed to today, when they specialize in cheaply-made clothes for teenagers.
Well, they aren't at all the same company. The real A&F went out of business in the late '70s. Some company in Ohio bought the name about a decade later and restarted it as a lower-end sporting goods and clothing store, then discovered that they could make a boatload of cash selling cheap clothes to teenagers. So it's the same in name only.
If the original Abercrombie & Fitch people saw some of the catalogs the current incarnation of A&F put out (pun intended) a couple of years ago, they'd probably faint or something.
In a way I'm glad this isn't the same company who now dress my whole school (unfortunately for me... and they say they're all 'total individuals... no) but I'm also gutted that some sweatshop tycoon bought the name, so now there's no good connotations of nostalgia, cos the second I read A&F I thought 'ew'. Lose-lose situation I guess. And you think $140 is expensive for a coat? In the UK you can be charged 140 STERLING for one, what happened to the exchange rate?! Yay capitalism.
thanks
Although I must say that when they put certain items on clearance it's usually a very good deal. I saw a coat that was $140 on clearance for $44.50.
