There is dispute about that; the trend is toward more inflectional (-er/-est) endings, regardless.

That's beautiful art work. In the grammar I learned (and teach), generally a word that's more than one syllable would not have "er" added. Rather, "more pleasant" would be the correct way. "Pleasanter" just sounds wrong!
