I desperately want all three of those women's swimsuits.

They look surprisingly modern, actually!

The Classics never go out of style.

"Flag that ship with our Jantzen"? Does that mean removing your swimsuit, attaching it to the mast, and coming back stark naked? Or possibly they're stranded on a desert island and have to wave at it with their swimsuits?

The latter.

Maybe it's a good thing Petty didn't paint men much. The women look okay, but the men's faces look weird to me. I think the woman in the first ad is really pretty (if not a bit haughty), but the guy looks like he has a black eye. Maybe that's the idea. She has made it clear that no way is she taking off her Jantzen and if that means resorting to violence, so be it!

I agree. The mens' faces and heads in general just look odd. They also seem to have rather long legs.

In that last ad the guy looks a little like a Golden Age Superman. :)

*nods* That is a very Superman-like pose.
