Lockerbie 30 Years Later

Today is the 30 anniversary of the Lockerbie Pan Am Flight 103 terrorist attack. This has always stayed in my memory. I think part of the reason why it did was the outpouring of help from the citizens of Lockerbie. They welcomed victim's families into their homes to stay, showed them where they found their loved ones, and formed bonds of friendship. The women of Lockerbie washed and ironed all salvageable clothing that was found and then painstakingly matched it with the right person. They read journals to see where the person had been, if they had bought something, had film in cameras developed to match clothing and belongings if it was in the background. They all wanted to help and contribute in some way. We continue to see to this willingness to help others to this day after attacks, which unfortunately, continue to happen around the world.
