What an interesting historical side note about ice rationing. I lived in Tulsa briefly and I know there would certainly be a demand for it in the summer.
Would they have used river ice as they used to do in Canada? I can certainly imagine running out if they did and happened to run into a hotter than normal summer.

I know that ice used to be stored here in sawdust or straw lined buildings.
I like that this ad calls the use of ice for ice water a form of "wasting" ice, yet goes on to say that you can use your fridge for cold water. AM I SUPPOSED TO HATE COLD WATER OR NOT, FRIDGE AD?
You're supposed to stop hogging all the ice to make your precious water colder when you could just start with COLD WATER and leave the ice to... um, the food storage facilities? ;D
