Great dresses! I'am somewhat surprised that Betty Barclay is actually an American brand, I always thought it was a German brand glamourising themselves with an English name.
Well, they are a German company. Today. Betty Barclay was started by the American Jonathan Logan fashion group as one of their 14 brands [in the 1940s or early 1950s]. A woman named Betty Barclay didn't actually exist, it's a made up name. The Jonathan Logan group itself was started by David Schwartz (Jewish German names not cool enough to be used for brands apparently) in 1944. A German guy from Heidelberg called Max Berk bought a license to use the Betty Barclay name in Germany for his products in 1955. It still existed in parallel in the US. The Betty Barclay German branch was so successful that they bought the entire Betty Barclay company in 1972. So since the 1970s Betty Barclay is a German company.
Lovely!

My mother, fresh from design school, worked for Hope Skillman a few years after this.
That woman in the middle is really attractive! I love her hair. I also wish I had these women's waist sizes.
