Mod Note
I created tags Contest Finalists Month Year, and Contest Winner Month Year, so it would easier to find. I actually created them for one specific member who had the particular knack of messaging me or leaving a comment, asking where's the finalists? where's the winner? after I would post something in my personal LJ that one would consider upsetting, time consuming, etc. Such as when I had covid, the day after my 18 year old cat was put to sleep and it was hitting me pretty hard, and now most recently after I spent 8 hours on Christmas at the ER vet with one of my dogs. They had commented on these aforementioned posts in my personal LJ, so they were aware of what was going on.
Admittedly I've been a bad mod this year. I have been slow to post finalists and winners. I need to tally December finalists; but I'm working on the calendar for 2022 right now and wait for it, focusing on my dog. I also have a kitten with a medical malfunction for extra mirth and merriment. Plus I try to doordash or ubereats some days to earn money to pay for vet bills. And I volunteer sometimes 40+ hours at a week at a rape/domestic violence hotline. I mean we ALL have things taking up time in our lives. We ALL have problems and issues. Let's not add to them!!
It's 100% okay to call me out on being lapse in something or even being a bad mod (I'd agree with you!!); but when you KNOW what is going on in my personal life, and think I should focus on vintage ads instead, well, sorry, not sorry, fuck you. Take your passive aggressive issues elsewhere, I'm not dealing with it. I'm not dealing with gate keeping of other members' contest entries (if you have an issue, you contact ME, don't comment on the post) and having to worry about that while deciding on contests for next year 'will so and so gate keep this?' No, just no.
There's only so much someone can take.
So I apologize to the community for not having my mod hat on when I replied to that person today in a comment. I don't apologize to them. Is that wrong of me? Maybe. But when you specifically create a tag system FOR THEM and let them know when you created it explaining it to them. Then they won't even check it and would instead rather, AGAIN, ask when they know damn well what you have going on in your life, nah, no.
I gotta get work done on my car today, yeah, more bills! BUT I'll be working on the vintage ads' 2022 calendar while I wait.
I try the best I can and will try to do better next year. I sincerely thank y'all for being here (obs excluding one of ya ;) because without our members, we're not a community!
