Community Update
I finally got our community posts, tags, profile info, imported to DW. (ETA I was a ding dong and didn't link to the DW community Vintage Ads on DW.) Alas, comments did not import. When I tried to import them again I would have had to re-import the posts and once I finally got the posts to import I was not gonna possibly mess that up!! So we DO have a backup of our community. I believe ultimately I'd like to have us integrated into WordPress on a domain. That's long term goal. Right now tho, we're backed up!
Obviously it's Friday and we're still here. I think it's probably Saturday in Russia now. Even IF LJ gets taken offline for a bit, remember our website for info and I'll post on DW. I also believe if LJ gets taken offline, it'll eventually return. I've seen on Twitter people who've deleted their LJ's. That's certainly a personal choice; but not one I could do.
As 'captain', I firmly believe in going down with the ship and ensuring the safety, in this case the finding of a new home, for our community in the future.
We weathered the storms in 2011 when Putin was attacking LJ with DDS attacks during Russian elections, cuz gosh he doesn't like criticism. We can weather this!!
If you go the Vintage Ads on DW, yes, the sticky post is missing cuz I forgot DW is weird and I bungled it. I have to make it a new post and will do so tonight or tomorrow. I saved the background code LJ themselves made for us too.
ETA!!! A VERY generous community member is sending me a laptop so that I can use WordPress & other sites that require an updated browser. You cannot update a browser on an 18 year old PC. I'll be able to get us set up somewhere safe sooner rather than later. Vintage Ads will forever be indebted to them!
